What Parents Say About My Favorite Place Montessori
Before coming to MFP, I spent a long time looking for the best place for my son to start his pre-school. I interviewed schools advertised in the newspaper, top ranked ones in the internet, my neighbors and friend's recommendations. I looked into so many places to the point that I forgot what I was looking for! When I observed Mickey's class, I saw one simple but a powerful thing that made a lot of sense. Whenever a child approached Mickey to talk to her, they either hugged her, or came very close to her. I could feel the warmth in their look and voices toward her, just like they were talking to their mother; and that's what I needed, a place where my son feels like at home. My son confirmed my right choice. After spending a month in MFP school, he said to me one day, when I picked him up from his morning class: “Mommy I don't want to go home, I want to go eat lunch with Mickey!” And during summer vacation he talked regularly about Mickey, Emily, all his classmates and activities at school. “It is wonderful to have a teacher who is personally devoted to her students in this age of chain nursery schools. It is a treasure to have a school that is a school first.”

My Favorite Place Montessori has been the basis of learning and early development for both our children. They are now in 7th and 1st grades. We strongly recommend Mickey and her school to anyone considering a program of learning for their children. Mickey's commitment to each individual student is impressive. She has prepared both of our kids very well to move onto the next level in both academics and social.

MFP provided an incredible foundation for our son. He learned “how to learn,” which we see as the academic foundation. Mickey's nurturing environment provided a safe, loving place which encourages creativity, curiosity, and respect for others. The low teacher to student ratio was a huge selling point for us. Academically he was able to work at his own pace – individually, with a partner, as well as working with groups of different sizes. We highly recommend MFP. The low teacher to student ratio combined with the nurturing environment set MFP above the rest.

I had no idea what a Montessori program was, but when we first walked into My Favorite Place Montessori I immediately noticed how comfortable my daughter and I felt. The room was orderly and clean, the environment was very peaceful and the way Mickey interacted with my daughter seemed very natural and intuitive. Little did I know the fabulous experience my daughter was about to have. Our daughter not only learned basic academic skills, such as spelling, reading, writing and math, but she also learned life skills as well. How to clean up, self-direct, respect others and use manners were an added bonus of sending her to MFP. And Mickey is fabulous. She not only cares about my child, but she cares about the whole family too. Mickey has taken the time to really get to know my daughter, pays attention to her needs and has helped support her during family transitions. I highly recommend, and appreciate, Mickey and My Favorite Place Montessori!

Before selecting My Favorite Place Montessori for our three-year-old daughter, we visited quite a few schools. We decided on MFP because of the personalized attention, five-day school week and because it was not a daycare. Mickey went out of her way to make our daughter comfortable within a school setting and staying away from home.

Mickey Winkler has offered my children a caring, nurturing, safe environment in which to grow and develop in astounding ways. Mickey's patience and understanding of small children is a gift. Mickey's understanding of the Montessori method is an added bonus. My three children have gained an excellent education through the Montessori method. Their small motor skills, math and reading are all reinforced on a daily basis at My Favorite Place Montessori School.

Mickey's love for teaching and conviction for Montessori are reflected in our children's admiration for her and their love of learning. The Montessori math curriculum uses effective visual tools, which help to set a solid foundation for math comprehension.
